The River states INEC state collation officer, Aniefiok Essien, has indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
scored 72,745 votes and the PDP came far behind with 7,148 from
Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State,.
Peoples Democratic Party agent , Mr Austin Okpara initially strenuously protested the result but later announced a reconciliation when the ballot papers were recounted . Rivers State has 23 LGAs but there were no results collated for the presidential election from five of them: Bonny, Akuku Toru, Okrika, Ikwerre and Ahoada West.
Mr Buhari has won 10 of Nigeria’s 36 states, while his rival Atiku Abubakar has taken seven states and the capital, Abuja.
As results came in, Mr Abubakar’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that there have been irregularities.
Party chair Uche Secondus called the count “incorrect and unacceptable”.
He said there had been an “attempt by the government and other agencies to manipulate the result”, but did not give any evidence.
